Objective: Understand what Screen Space Reflections are and how to set them up.

So we want to setup some Screen Space Reflection, but first, what are they ? It is a rendering technique used to simulate the reflection of objects in a scene. It works by analyzing the content of the screen space (what the camera sees) and calculating reflections based on that information.

Now lets create our Reflection Probe, set it to realtime and set to the size of our room.

Creating our Reflection Probe and setting to Realtime.

This made some changes in the room, here is how our reflection are currently.

Current reflections of our scene.

In order for us to fix this by using Screen Space Reflections, we need to set our Use Influence Volume into our Projection Settings.

Setting our Use Influence Volume.

Now we are going to our HDRP Asset Folder, and update the reflection options for both Screen Space Reflection and Compress Reflection.

Updating our HDRP.

Now that the changes were made, how does our room look now ?

Current state of our scene after the updates.

Currently, there are gaps in the reflection rendering. For example, the black center portions of the floor aren’t realistic, instead, there’s just light bouncing off them. How can we address this issue?

We can integrate Screen Space Reflection into our Global Volume settings. By adjusting the parameters within this setting, you can achieve higher-quality reflections for your scene.

And this is how Screen Space Reflections can help you enhance the visual fidelity of scenes by adding realistic reflections to surfaces.
